Our Little Angel!

Gavin and I are so very happy that we have our little angel! The morning of our induction Gavin went to work as usual and I was still sleeping when I received a phone call from our hospital. They were calling wondering where we were and if we knew we were scheduled for an induction. Of course we knew that. I was getting induced at 6:30 pm... No actually they told me it was suppose to be 6:30 am. LOL! So I called Gavin and he came rushing home and off we went to the hospital in a rush. Fortunately we were already packed and ready to go but there was still an adrenaline rush. We arrived at the hospital around 8 am and I was induced and about an hour later I received the epidural which only felt like a slight pinch. After that I was feeling pretty darn good. Around 10-10:30ish my midwife came in and broke my water. After that it only took a couple of hours to be ready to deliver. However because my midwife was off delivering 2 other babies it took a couple of hours before they had me start pushing. It took two hours of pushing but Sabrina finally entered this world and even cried before they took her to get cleaned up. After they cleaned her up they brought her back to me and placed her in my arms and I totally bawled! She was wide awake and staring at me even though I am sure she had no idea what was going on. It was amazing to look at our sweet baby girl and realize that Gavin and I created her. We were able to bring her home on the 24th and that was one rough night. She was so fussy that it took us 3 hours to calm her down and get her fed. We had to resort to formula as she wasn't taking to nursing that night. We have had much better success since then and she is feeding a lot more and doing so much better. My mom has stayed with us for the last week which has been extremely helpful as we have been needing to get better rest for our own sanity. We will now be on our own and both Gavin and I feel like we'll be able to handle it.

Lesa, in order to understand all that you went through, I picked up a copy of "The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy". All I can say is, "Wow". Hats off to you (and all mothers really) for giving birth. I am so proud of you. Hope she lets you sleep now and then.

She's precious! And way to go! What a fun story about her birth. At least you didn't have to wait around all day anxious about it right? She's an angel and enjoy every moment because it goes by so fast!!
